A Village taught to fish was installed at an unsanctioned site of the commons, a breakwater in Long Beach, CA locally refered to as “the rocks.” The space is used day in and out, facilitating gather space away from home for the local highschool students, a tranquil area for many people fishing with their compatriots, and a place of refurge for the unhoused. The installation is an ad-hoc memorialization of those who are always present, fishing the banks of the breakwater.
